The Henny Penny Hatching Programme uses 3 different types of chicks 

Bond Brown, Bond White and Bond Blacks

The Farmer has crossed the breeds, set out below, to produce the different colours of chicks that we have in our programme

They are all from layer strains and are not meat chickens

Information on different breeds of chickens may be obtained from www.backyardschickens.com (breeds) and www.poultrymad.co.uk both of these sites have some very good information

Australorps

From Orpington stock.
Their black feathers shine with a green tint - a very pretty bird. Noted for their egg production producing a brown egg Temperament:- 
Tame to shy
White Leghorn

Mostly hatched in incubators
Prolific layers, approx 250 eggs per year
Temperament:-
Rarely become broody

 
Brown Leghorn
Cockerel

Originated in Italy
Excellent feed to egg conversion ratio
Their large floppy over combs and wattles and upward stance gives them a characteristic appearance

Black Leghorn

Tends not to lay as many eggs as a White Leghorn Produces White Eggs
Temperament:- Particularly friendly, a good pet for children
Rhode Island Red

American breed
Good producer of mid-brown eggs. Large chickens with deep burgundy /chestnut plumage
Light  Sussex

Originated in UK
Hardy, will thrive in all weathers
Large heavy bird soft feathers with distinctive marking
